Tennessee OC Mike DeBord Reportedly Leaving For Indiana OC Job

Tennessee OC Mike DeBord has left Vols to become new OC at IN, source told @ESPN.

IN is hiring Tennessee offensive coordinator Mike DeBord for the same position, a source told ESPN. Tennessee finished the season No. 40 in yards per game and No. 24 in points scored per game with 36.4. Before landing at Tennessee, Debord was working in sports administration at MI, where had previously had two stints as offensive coordinator.

DeBord, a Muncie, Indiana native, spent the past two seasons as Tennessee's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. DeBord has a lot of work to do if the Hoosiers are to compete with the elite teams in the Big Ten.

This is one more step on what has been a rocky calendar year for head coach Butch Jones and the Volunteers, as preseason expectations went unfulfilled and several player departures, along with key injuries, resulted in a 9-4 record. At Indiana, he is slated to replace Kevin Johns, who was relieved of his duties by new Hoosiers head coach Tom Allen on Monday. At CMU, Jones served as Debord's offensive coordinator.

One name already connected to the opening is former OR head coach Mark Helfrich.
