Concerns looming over Obamacare enrollment

As promised President Trump issued an executive order last week, directing members of his administration to facilitate the repeal and replacement of the Affordable Care Act.

People who are planning to enroll for health insurance coverage under the Affordable Care Act's federal marketplace have until the end of Tuesday to do so.

"I think we would lose more insurance companies", said Marilyn Tavenner, president of America's Health Insurance Plans, the industry's largest trade group.

President Donald Trump and the Republican-dominated Congress are moving forward with plans to dismantle the ACA, commonly referred to as Obamacare.

"Part of the challenge right now is, because Tom Price is still going through the confirmation process, nobody wants to talk too much about things that could be used against him in that process", added Cheney.

The enrollment increase on the exchange does not indicate how many more New Yorkers are covered by insurance through the Affordable Care Act, however.

New York City officials took a stand against an ACA repeal in December with the launch of a campaign to enroll as many as 50,000 new beneficiaries in state exchange health plans over a period of 12 months.

Changes could include eliminating the mandate that everyone has to have insurance along with block grants that would give states more flexibility to design their own health programs.

Mississippians have until midnight to sign-up for the Affordable Care Act or Obamacare as it's commonly called.

"Without the insurance, would they be OK?"

The Best's Briefing, titled, "ACA Exchange Marketplaces Continue To Challenge Insurers", states that 167 insurers are participating in the marketplace in 2017, down from 232 in the 2016 coverage year.

"We've heard from folks inside congressional offices that the phones have been ringing off the hook from people who are concerned about losing their protections", he said.

Whether you like Obamacare or not, organizers still suggest looking in to getting insured until the changes are certain.

Cox signed up for the ACA for the first time on Tuesday.

Patricia MccCready-Lucus is a health insurance broker, and she says she's had to help customers who are now having to pay higher premiums. These ideas include protecting coverage for Americans with pre-existing conditions and allowing people under the age of 26 to stay on their parents' healthcare plans.
