Laverne Cox Apologizes for Forgetting to Introduce Metallica at the Grammys

Lady Gaga and Metallica rocked out together at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards, although it didn't go off without a hitch.

One of the most-anticipated pairings of the night was Lady Gaga with the legendary heavy metal band Metallica, but there were audio issues from the start.

The rock band and Gaga were introduced to the stage by Orange Is the New Black actress Laverne Cox, who caused controversy by not actually mentioning Metallica by name as she welcomed them for the performance.

Ch-ch-check out their performance (above)!

Keeping with tradition of creating memorable "Grammy moments" by pairing artists for a joint performance, Lady Gaga joined Metallica for an electrifying performance of their song "Moth into Flame".

And when Hetfield realized he wasn't in the mix, he just doubled up on Gaga's mic, Bruce Springsteen-style.

He let his unhappiness be shown at the end of the performance by angrily kicking down his mic stand and throwing his guitar to the ground. This was Gaga's fifth time taking the stage; past year she joined in for a tribute to David Bowie.

Oh boy. After Adele restarted her live tribute to George Michael from the Grammy stage, the Metallica-Lady Gaga mashup hit a bit of a snafu.

It's been a long, emotional, Lemonade-less night, full of technical difficulties, a capella nonsense and foolish forced renditions of "Sweet Caroline" that no one wants to sing. I was greatly disappointed when they cut their hair in the mid-1990s and became even more polished and accessible with Load and Reload.

I was at Bradley's house with Lars [Ulrich] and we were just hanging out".

"I saw them recently and we were watching the show", she added, "those guys play better than they've played in their whole lives".

The band has been nominated for Best Rock Song for Hardwired from their latest album Hardwired. To Self Destruct.
